Welcome to my musings on life, work and the creative life amidst teaching at the Center for Cartoon Studies. Posts are illustrated when I can manage it. Myrant is just that: MYrant! I post daily, for the most part, except when deadlines and workload constrict my time.

Since Tyrant was never completed (it wasn't, was it?), how could it be collected?
The images from TYRANT that I've never been able to forget involved that Cretaceous turtle (forgive me for not recalling the species). The mud it kicked up in the stream as it made its escape. Brilliant work. I once told Rick Hautala that I got the feeling you were channeling that hard-shelled critter.
Collection Vol. 1: Tyrant 1-3, from the egg-laying to the hatching -- a complete, satisfying read, and still unlike any comic, book or movie/video/animation anyone's ever done. It works. I'm working on some slight revisions (primarily to correct one sequence in Tyrant #1 that didn't work well, and to revise imagery for current paleontological science, ten years later), and hope to get it out some time in 2008. Wish me luck. If it flies, and it's conceivable I can help pay my monthly mortgage working on TYRANT anew, I'll continue. If not, c'est la vie.
Thanks for the kind words. That turtle has a solo one-shot story I'll be featuring in the collected.
