MYRANT

Welcome to my musings on life, work and the creative life amidst teaching at the Center for Cartoon Studies. Posts are illustrated when I can manage it. Myrant is just that: MYrant! I post daily, for the most part, except when deadlines and workload constrict my time.

Blue Monday

  • So, who is a danger to the world? The most persistant "threat to world peace" is busy in the Mideast, talking peace and waging verbal war.

  • Our President continues to rattle sabers and recklessly foment war -- aggressively continuing his attempts to isolate Iran, while further isolating ourselves -- over what may have been a practical joke --
  • -- though this will be a tough joke to follow: Bush delivers arms to the country most responsible for 9/11. "Our ally."

  • Of course, the Saudis are leery of Bush and his true motives. They say, "...everything the president touches 'turns to dust and ashes'..." Look at our economy, look at New Orleans, look at Iraq, look at Afghanistan, look at our Consitution, look at democracy.

  • Ah, fuck, what's the point.

  • This may coax a smile out of you, and induce dreams of Lisa del Giocondo...

  • In any case, don't be blue:
  • If you have video play capability, go ahead, check this out and cheer up.

  • Happy Birthday, Smurfs...

    Have a manic Monday, folks.

Labels: Bush in Mideast, Lisa del Giocondo, Saudi Arabia, Smurf birthday, war feints, warning shots

    About Me

    My Photo
    Name: SRBissette
Location: Mountains of Madness, Vermont, United States

I'm a Native Vermonter who drew and wrote from a tender age and loved dinosaurs and monsters, none of which I've ever outgrown. I graduated in 1978 as a member of the first-ever class at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art, Inc., entered the comics profession and carved out a career until my retirement from the field in 1999. I made (and left) my mark with SWAMP THING, TABOO, '1963,' and TYRANT, among others. As a writer, I've written for a variety of zines (including VIDEO WATCHDOG, DEEP RED, FANGORIA, etc.) and books (THE MONSTER BOOK: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, UNDERGROUND USA, etc.) amid occasional bouts of fiction (the Stoker Award winning novella ALIENS: TRIBES, short stories). My current pet project is GREEN MT CINEMA, dedicated to VT and New England films and filmmakers. I write constantly, draw occasionally, and now teach at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Jct., VT. I live with my wife Marjory, whom I love -- and I sure love my son Daniel and my daughter Maia, too.
