Voted!

I walked up to the Town Clerk office yesterday afternoon and voted via early ballot; Marge is voting this afternoon, and counting ballots tonight.

It's a little bittersweet -- likely my last vote in the town of Marlboro, since (if all goes well) we'll be living in Windsor before the New Year; my first Town Meeting in our new home will come in March, and I'm looking forward to it already. This is certainly the last time Marge will be on the team of those counting ballots. A momentous election day for us both, personally and as citizens.

So -- what are you waiting for? Get out and vote.

  • A fine time was had by all, but James has much to say about the Center for Cartoon Studies, his visit, and more. Give it a read...

And now, I'm off for CCS myself. A full two-day schedule, with cartoonist & musician Ron Rege Jr. visiting us today. See you here by Thursday, if not sooner!

    1. Well it looks like Kathy and I will be honeymooning at Mt. Snow, VT for a few days so I'm going to get her up to Burlington, stop in SmallDog Electronics on the way and maybe check out this CSS, see if it has the same vibe as the classes I was teaching in Boston and at Words & Pictures. Maybe see you there and say hello to an old friend.

    2. I voted, despite my deep suspicions about the Diebold machines they use here in Charlotte. Early this morning the lines were long and three of the seven Diebold machines were not working. I never have minded waiting to vote, so that was not a problem for me. I was a few minutes late for work because of the slight delay.

I hope they count the actual votes. I want to be very wrong about my suspicions concerning the rigged voting that has been going on in this nation since 2000.

    4. WILL YOU STOP WHINING NOW?

No, but seriously - Thank God our National Psyche is finally healing. And we won't have to endure any more of those gory torture movies!

No, but seriously, really, I mean it this time -

I'm posting here because this is the only "liberal blog" that I read regularly (actually I just scan the longer rants, but I get the drift) and just want to ask Hemlockman etc etc - WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? I thought the Dictator had this thing rigged???

    6. Mark...there were reports of problems with the voting machines, irregularities, etc. Apparently the number of people who turned out to vote overwhelmed the dirty tricks.

Yes, I know you won't believe me.

    7. Jove, I do hate religionists.

Yes, according to Greg Palast, that is exactly what happened. The rig only works if the elections are close. If the Dems turn out a 55% or better electorate, then the scam is overwhelmed. What looked like some close Democrat victories were more likely runaway slaughters (for example, Bible-humping Santorum getting his ass handed to him--HAHAHAHA!!!).
